The Solter Vision web development team has been championing the pros of HTML5 for fast, responsive websites for years.
HTML5 creates new opportunities for my team to craft designs with the speed, capabilities, and stability of desktop software programs, but with a user experience that translates optimally onto mobile devices. It enables our web development team to seamlessly roll out all of your content to your potential audience.

What is HTML 5?

HTML5 is a markup language. It helps structure and share content online. As its name implies, it is the fifth revision of the HTML coding language, which was created back in 1990. HTML5 has been combined with CSS3 and many useful JavaScript APIs since 2011, allowing web developers to create complex multimedia systems that were previously impossible to create without plugins.

HTML5 includes organizing features that make it easy to create, distribute and manage multimedia content and graphics on your website. These include <video>, <audio> and <canvas> elements, as well as the inclusion of scalable vector graphics (SVG), which replaces the uses of generic <object> tags. Plus this includes MathML for hefty data equations.

Why is HTML5 important for web design?

What does all of that mean for your business website? Faster, simpler multimedia that won’t slow down your website’s load time. Quicker access means happier customers, repeat visits, and more conversions.

Enabling videos, music, and animated background graphics without the need for proprietary plugins guarantees better user experiences for both developers and visitors.

The ability to clarify content is possible with the use of <section>, <article>, <header> and <nav>. APIs and the Document Object Model (DOM) give us more power to organize content throughout each page, which gives both tap-and-touch mobile visitors and the disabled population more ways to experience content. Why wouldn’t we code for this?

Some web development teams continue to ignore HTML5’s features, falling back on what has worked well in the past instead of embracing these new ways to create a faster, more enjoyable browsing experience that suits all visitors.

With HTML5, you can achieve simpler integration with your business applications and cloud-based computing environments. You and your audience have the opportunity to circumvent Flash and other plugin-dependent tools from the past, giving everyone visiting the site more ways to share your business online. Plus, you gain the chance to build a future-friendly, responsive site.

Should you redesign your website with HTML5?

Of course I’m going to say “Yes! Right now!” Here’s why: As more of your visitors prefer to use their smartphones and tablets to access your website, you need to greet them with something fast, effective and, most importantly, accessible through the mobile computing environment. If not, they’ll find a company that puts their visitors’ needs, first.

With HTML5, you’re creating an optimal user experience that will make your visitors happy.
